Flames Ignite: New Coaches and Upcoming Matchups Spark Excitement!

The Liberty Flames men’s basketball program is welcoming back former player Kyle Rode to the coaching staff, alongside Stelios Tzoutzis, who will serve as an assistant coach and team general manager. Rode, who played for the Flames for five seasons, has spent the last year competing in the NBA G League with the Austin Spurs. Tzoutzis returns after a previous stint as a graduate assistant under head coach Ritchie McKay in 2015, bringing with him five years of experience from Virginia.

In addition to the basketball updates, the Flames have scheduled two future non-conference football games against Louisiana. The Flames will host the Rajun’ Cajuns in 2028 and make a trip to Lafayette in 2032. Notably, Louisiana has consistently performed well, having participated in seven consecutive bowl games.

Excitement is building as the Flames football season approaches, with just 75 days left until kickoff. Liberty will start the season at home against Maine on August 30th.

This article highlights a time of renewal and anticipation for the Liberty Flames, with fresh coaching perspectives and future competitive matchups on the horizon. The community can look forward to an energetic football season and the positive impact of former players returning to the program.
