Flames and Fury: Inside the Thrilling World of “Ballerina”

Chad Stahelski, the creative mind behind the iconic “John Wick” series, drew inspiration from his high school days volunteering with a local fire department for an explosive action sequence in the upcoming film “From the World of John Wick: Ballerina.” Stahelski envisioned a captivating showdown involving flamethrowers and water, leading to the exhilarating flamethrower duel that will feature in the movie.

In a recent video interview, Stahelski expressed his desire to make the character Eve, portrayed by Ana de Armas, appear astute and formidable. He emphasized the importance of showcasing her skill set rather than simply increasing the number of adversaries, leading him to incorporate fire into her combat style.

The film boasts a stunning third-act sequence where Eve faces off against a formidable henchman named Dex (played by Robert Maaser) in an Alpine village. Notably, “Ballerina” has embraced authenticity, with Stahelski revealing that approximately 90 to 95 percent of the flames used in the film are real rather than digitally created.

This innovative approach to action filmmaking reflects Stahelski’s commitment to visually captivating and intense sequences, promising viewers a thrilling cinematic experience while highlighting the depth and capability of the protagonist. The combination of real stunts and practical effects is set to elevate the film and maintain the franchise’s reputation for groundbreaking action.
