Two years following the tragic death of Robert De Niro’s grandson, Leandro Anthony De Niro-Rodriguez, authorities have made additional arrests in connection with the case. Leandro was found dead on July 2, 2023, and his death was ruled an accidental drug overdose. Reports indicate that the latest arrests involve five men charged with conspiracy to distribute controlled substances resulting in death, according to NBC 4 New York.

These recent developments follow the earlier arrest of Sofia H. Marks, a woman alleged to have sold drugs to Leandro shortly before his passing. The arrests come as the family continues to seek justice and answers in the wake of their loss. The young man was discovered by a friend who had not heard from him for several days.

Leandro, who had a brief but notable career in acting, appeared in the acclaimed film “A Star is Born” alongside Bradley Cooper and Dave Chappelle in 2018, as well as in the production “Cabaret Maxime,” released the same year. He was just 19 years old at the time of his death.

His mother, Drena De Niro, shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, expressing her profound love and sorrow. She described Leandro as her “beautiful sweet angel” and emphasized how deeply loved he was, reflecting on the pain of losing her only son.

The ongoing investigation highlights the serious issues surrounding drug distribution and the tragic consequences it can lead to. As the De Niro family navigates this painful chapter, there is hope that the recent arrests may bring them closer to closure and justice for Leandro.
