Sixty-four graduates from the Navua campus of Pacific Polytech have successfully received certificates in various fields including agriculture, carpentry, software application, and ICT. This significant milestone was celebrated at the inaugural graduation ceremony for the Class of 2025, attended by dignitaries and faculty.

Sakiusa Tubuna, the Assistant Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, emphasized the importance of this event, highlighting how it contributes to Fiji’s growth in trade and skills across multiple sectors including infrastructure, digital transformation, and agriculture. “This marks the beginning of contribution towards Fiji’s trade and skills,” Mr. Tubuna stated, recognizing the diverse skill set the graduates bring to the economy.

Peni Taoi, the director of Pacific Polytech, echoed these sentiments by stating that the institution is committed to enhancing skills that improve living standards. He noted that not all students excel in traditional textbook learning environments, thus highlighting the value of vocational training offered by Pacific Polytech.

Mr. Taoi urged the government to continue supporting the institution, particularly in assisting school dropouts to gain quality trade certifications. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between university education and vocational training, providing crucial opportunities for those who may have strayed from the traditional educational path.

He also called on prospective students to act quickly in applying for programs at Pacific Polytech, ensuring their information is accurate and current. With classes set to commence on January 19, 2026, Mr. Taoi encouraged students to take advantage of available funding options, such as TSLS, to further their education.

This graduation ceremony not only marks a personal achievement for the graduates but also represents a collective step toward enhancing Fiji’s workforce capabilities, fostering hope for a more skilled and versatile future.
