Netflix has unveiled first-look images from “The Fifth Wheel,” a highly anticipated comedy directed by Eva Longoria, featuring Kim Kardashian and Nikki Glaser. The film, crafted by writers Paula Pell and Janine Brito, centers on a close-knit group of high school friends who embark on a weekend trip to Las Vegas, hoping to reconnect. However, their plans take an unexpected turn when a charming outsider, portrayed by Kardashian, arrives and compels the friends to confront their chaotic lives and unraveling relationships.

This film marks a significant milestone for Longoria, as it is her second feature directing effort and her inaugural project with Netflix, following her successful directional debut with Hulu and Disney+’s “Flamin’ Hot,” which told the story of the creation of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. Alongside Kardashian and Glaser, the film boasts an impressive cast, including Fortune Feimster, Brenda Song, Jack Whitehall, Casey Wilson, and Scott MacArthur.

Kardashian continues to expand her acting repertoire, having previously played Allura Grant in Hulu’s legal drama “All’s Fair” and appeared alongside Emma Roberts in Season 12 of “American Horror Story.” Additionally, she is set to take on a villainous role in an upcoming “Bratz” movie from Amazon MGM, as reported by Variety. “The Fifth Wheel” will be Kardashian’s first leading role in a film and her debut collaboration with Netflix.

The comedy is part of Netflix’s growing lineup of Los Angeles-produced projects, which includes notable titles such as Ben Affleck’s “Animals,” Lee Sung Jin’s “Beef” Season 2, and Mindy Kaling’s “Running Point” Season 2. The production team for “The Fifth Wheel” features Pell, Kardashian, Jessica Elbaum, Will Ferrell, and Alex Brown for Gloria Sanchez Productions, along with Cris Abrego and Longoria’s Hyphenate Media Group, with Mary Bundy and David Hyman serving as executive producers. A release date for the film has not yet been announced.

As audiences look forward to this female-driven comedy, the expectations are high for both Longoria’s directorial vision and Kardashian’s performance, signaling a promising addition to the comedic landscape on Netflix.
