A Christmas Day road trip took an unexpected turn for Lavenia and her family as she went into labor while traveling from Nadi to Nayavu. According to a post from the Archdiocese of Suva, the family was in transit when Lavenia began experiencing strong contractions. The hospital’s medical team promptly intervened, admitting Lavenia and assisting with the delivery. In a delightful turn of events, she welcomed a healthy baby boy, becoming the first mother to give birth at Ra Maternity Hospital on Christmas Day this year. Reports indicate that both Lavenia and her newborn are in excellent health, a fact that the Archdiocese highlighted in their communications, commending the dedication of the staff involved.
After spending some time under observation, Lavenia and her son were discharged on Boxing Day and have since returned home to Nadi.
