The highly anticipated fifth and final season of “Outer Banks” is officially in production, with Netflix unveiling the first images featuring the Pogues—except for JJ, portrayed by Rudy Pankow, who appears to be absent from the new season’s on-set photos. The last mission that took the crew to Morocco ended in tragedy, leading to both the loss of the Blue Crown and a significant change within the group.

The storyline picks up with Sarah Cameron, played by Madelyn Cline, who is now pregnant with John B’s (Chase Stokes) child. This development adds a new layer of complexity, especially considering JJ’s previous musings on baby names, which now resonate more deeply with the storyline.

Returning cast members for the series’ final season include Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Drew Starkey, and Carlacia Grant. Notably, J. Anthony Crane and Cullen Moss have been elevated to series regulars, reinforcing their roles in the show.

The series creators, Jonas Pate, Josh Pate, and Shannon Burke, will continue their involvement as executive producers, maintaining the show’s narrative direction that was envisioned to conclude after five seasons. The cast has also seen many members transition into film roles; for instance, Pankow is set to star in the upcoming adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s “Reminders of Him,” and Cline is featured in the horror film “I Know What You Did Last Summer.”

“Outer Banks” Season 5 is set to premiere in 2026, marking the end of an era for fans of the series. With ongoing character developments and new challenges on the horizon, viewers can expect an engaging conclusion that honors the journey of the Pogues.
