The Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources, in partnership with Fiji Law Reform, is preparing to conduct the final public consultation regarding the review of the State Lands Act of 1945. This crucial event will occur next Monday at the Suva Civic Centre Lower Auditorium from 10 am to 12 pm, and it presents a vital opportunity for the public to express their views on the proposed changes.
This consultation marks the last chance for citizens to engage in discussions aimed at modernizing and improving the management and administration of state lands in Fiji. The overarching objective of the review is to create a more effective system that addresses the needs and aspirations of the community.
The Ministry is encouraging participation from all stakeholders, welcoming insights and recommendations from individuals and organizations alike. Additionally, written contributions can be submitted to the Permanent Secretary for Lands and Mineral Resources. Submissions may be sent via email, delivered directly to the Ministry’s headquarters in Nasese, or mailed. All written feedback must be received by 4 pm on the following Wednesday.
This review process seeks to establish a land management system that is transparent, equitable, and sustainable for all Fijians. The Ministry emphasizes the importance of public involvement in crafting a framework that caters to the diverse needs across the nation, ultimately leading to a more responsible and inclusive approach to land management. The collaborative effort aims to enhance governance in land administration, ensuring the interests of all citizens are represented and upheld.
