Final Day Nears for Lautoka Sugar Mill’s 2025 Season

Crushing operations at the Lautoka Sugar Mill are nearing completion for the 2025 season, with the final day set for this Friday. This decision was reached following talks led by Semi Leweniqila, spokesperson for the Sugar Industry Tribunal, and the Chief Executive of the Fiji Sugar Corporation.

Leweniqila has urged growers and harvesting teams in the Western Division to focus on the timely harvesting and transportation of any remaining sugar cane to the Lautoka Mill ahead of the deadline. This call to action underlines the industry’s dedication to maximizing the yield of the current season while providing vital support to local farmers.

As the season draws to a close, the productive collaboration between growers and mill operators showcases the resilience and adaptability of Fiji’s sugar industry. This collective effort not only aims to enhance agricultural outputs but also reinforces the integral role of the sugar sector in the region’s economy, fostering hope for continued success in future seasons.
