Restoration efforts are underway in the Western Division, with local authorities dedicated to restoring access to 115 roads that have been affected. Elimi Rokoduru, the Divisional Planning Officer for the West, mentioned that while the division has largely avoided significant structural damage to its key infrastructure, the focus remains on addressing transportation challenges.

According to reports from the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA), teams are actively working “round the clock” to recover the affected road network. Rokoduru confirmed that restoration efforts are on track, with hopes that the number of impacted roads will diminish as repair crews make progress throughout the day. “The damage is being addressed, and the teams are working diligently to restore accessibility,” he stated, emphasizing the ongoing commitment to resolving these challenges.

As recovery teams continue their work, they exemplify the resilience and dedication of local authorities and the community, who are united in their efforts to overcome these transport disruptions and ensure safe passage for residents. With optimism in the air, it is expected that accessibility will soon improve for those affected.
