The Ministry of Youth and Sports is making strides toward enhancing institutional excellence and innovation by participating in national productivity initiatives, as highlighted by Minister Jese Saukuru. During a recent Parliamentary session on November 5, 2025, he informed that the Ministry’s staff undertook structured training aimed at actively engaging in the 2025 Fiji Business Excellence Awards and the National Convention on Innovation and Quality, with support from the National Training and Productivity Centre (NTPC).
As a pioneering project, the Ministry initiated its first Quality Control Circle (QCC) within the National Youth Band, which promotes teamwork, creativity, and continuous improvement. In conjunction with this, the Ministry also launched the Quality Circles Implementation Handbook, serving as a practical guide to uphold innovation and quality management practices across all divisions.
The efforts of the National Youth Band were recognized at the recent National Convention, where it earned a One-Star Award, signifying a landmark achievement in its pursuit of excellence. Minister Saukuru emphasized that this accolade underscores the Ministry’s commitment to fostering a results-driven culture centered around innovation, collaboration, and productivity. “This recognition reflects our dedication to building a results-driven culture that values innovation, collaboration, and productivity,” he stated.
This initiative is in line with the Coalition Government’s broader vision, aimed at promoting accountability, innovation, and efficiency throughout the public sector. The advancements made signify a meaningful step towards improving not just the internal workings of the Ministry but also the overall engagement with and development of Fiji’s youth.
The Ministry’s framework for the future stands to benefit from these progressive actions, providing a supportive environment that can inspire a generation of young Fijians to excel in their respective fields. As Fiji looks to navigate challenges and opportunities ahead, the focus on youth and quality practices remains a beacon of hope for continued growth and success.
