Fiji Rugby's Coach Development Pathway Elevates Local Kadavu and Navosa Coaches with Fiji Warriors Ahead of Australian Country Match

Fiji’s Local Coaches Fast-Track with Warriors Development Pathway

Kadavu Rugby coach Josevata Bola and Navosa Rugby coach David Dakuitoga are collaborating with the Shop N Save Fiji Warriors’ coaching staff as part of a new initiative launched by the Fiji Rugby Union. This program, called the Coach Development Pathway, is designed to provide local coaches with greater exposure to international-level coaching, ultimately supporting the foundational growth of rugby in Fiji.

Cohen Politini, the head coach of the Fiji Warriors, expressed his appreciation for having both coaches on board as they prepare for their upcoming match against the Australian Country team at Prince Charles Park in Nadi. Politini remarked, “We are blessed to have both the Vanua finalists, the Kadavu and Navosa coaches, here on attachment and observers. There has been lots of learning and interaction with them, and they also feel blessed to be part of this environment and experience coaching at a high-performance level.”

This initiative offers invaluable insights into high-performance training methods, which will significantly benefit the coaches in developing talent within their provincial and grassroots rugby programs. Recently, Kadavu triumphed over Navosa with a score of 23-17 in the Vodafone Vanua Cup final, earning them a spot in next season’s Skipper Cup.

The inclusion of local coaches in higher-level coaching settings not only enhances their skills but also fortifies the entire rugby community in Fiji. This approach marks a positive leap forward for the sport, as these coaches will play a pivotal role in cultivating future rugby talents throughout the nation.

The Fiji Warriors’ match against the Australian Country team not only provides a stage for local players to demonstrate their abilities but also signifies an ongoing commitment to the advancement of rugby in the country. With initiatives like the Coach Development Pathway, the outlook for Fijian rugby remains remarkably optimistic.
