Fiji Airports is marking a significant achievement as Kalesi Samanunu Cagi becomes the country’s first Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji-endorsed Instrument Flight Procedure Designer. It moves Fiji Airports closer to creating a fully accredited Instrument Flight Procedure (IFP) office within the nation, decreasing the reliance on foreign expertise.
Mesake Nawari, CEO of Fiji Airports, expressed pride in this remarkable development, highlighting that Cagi’s success illustrates the exceptional talent being nurtured at Fiji Airports. Since leading the Aeronautical Information Services unit in 2023, Cagi has impressively expanded her team from three to 13 specialists. Her new certification equips her with the skills to design, review, and maintain instrument flight procedures for all Fijian airports, addressing critical areas such as obstacle assessments, terrain analysis, and flight management system coding.
Cagi sees her certification as a testament to the potential and progress for future aviation professionals within Fiji, emphasizing that technical excellence can be accomplished domestically when supported appropriately. This achievement is further strengthened by the Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji’s endorsement of a Standard Document for Instrument Flight Procedure Service Providers, facilitating the certification process.
