The Ministry of Education has extended its heartfelt congratulations to the first cohort of students graduating with a National Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (Level 5) from the Methodist Lay Training College (MLTC) in Davuilevu, near Nausori. Minister Aseri Radrodro celebrated the achievements of the 13 graduates, highlighting their dedication to a profession that is essential for fostering lifelong learning.

This graduation marks a particularly momentous occasion, aligning with the 50th Anniversary of MLTC, an institution renowned for training teachers, church leaders, and community workers who are equipped with compassion, skill, and faith. Minister Radrodro remarked, “Your hard work, dedication, and faith have brought you to this proud moment. You are the pioneers of this program, the first to complete the National Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care at MLTC. This achievement is not only a personal success for you but also a proud milestone for the College, the Methodist Church, and the Ministry of Education.”

In his address, the Minister also recognized the critical role of parents, guardians, and educators in nurturing these graduates. Their support has been instrumental in developing committed individuals ready to make significant contributions to Fiji’s education sector.

The two-year National Diploma program encompasses various modules, including Development and Attachment Theory, Planning and Evaluation in Early Childhood Education, Personal Development, Community Interaction, and Operating and Establishing Early Childhood Education Services in Fiji. Furthermore, the curriculum features an 11-week practical teaching placement in kindergartens, equipping graduates with vital hands-on experience.

This graduation reflects a positive trend in educational progress within Fiji, aligning with broader governmental initiatives aimed at enhancing vocational training. In recent weeks, students from Nasinu Muslim College and Namosi Secondary School also received accolades for their accomplishments in vocational education, underlining a commitment to strengthening technical skills and uplifting opportunities for Fijian youth.

These milestones not only celebrate individual success but also embody a hopeful message about the potential for transformative education. With dedication and the right support, students are empowered to realize their dreams and contribute positively to their communities in Fiji.
