Minister for Housing and Local Government, Maciu Nalumisa, emphasized that the primary goals are to create safer residences, foster stronger communities, and boost national resilience.
The initiative will be led by the National Fire Authority (NFA) under a new co-regulatory framework, with expertise from the Fire Protection Association of Australia providing essential training and improvements in certification and professional standards. “The outcome we seek is simple and powerful: the right people with the right skills doing the right work to a standard that protects life and property,” Nalumisa expressed.
This collaboration aims to enhance Fiji’s regulatory systems by prioritizing skill development, verification, and continuous improvement while ensuring that responsibilities are not shifted away from local authorities.
