Fiji’s FAME Awards 2025: Hall of Fame Returns as 121 Submissions Across 25 Categories

Journalists in Fiji are eagerly preparing for the upcoming Fiji Achievement in Media Excellence (FAME) Awards 2025, set to take place on December 6, 2025, at the Novotel Lami Convention & Entertainment Centre. This year’s awards aim to celebrate the resilience of journalists while championing media freedom, paying homage to those committed to sharing impactful stories that resonate with the Fijian populace.

A remarkable 121 entries have been submitted from a variety of media outlets, including print, radio, television, and digital platforms, competing across 25 categories that highlight excellence and creativity in journalism. Shane Hussein, Chairman of the FAME Awards, expressed his pride in the quantity and quality of submissions, signaling a positive evolution in professional standards within Fiji’s media landscape.

Hussein commented, “The strong turnout reflects the growing standard of professionalism within Fiji’s media.” Currently, judges are assessing the submissions, with the announcement of finalists expected soon. All nominated entrants will receive complimentary invitations to the awards ceremony along with digital finalist badges to acknowledge their accomplishments.

Key categories include Best Feature Article, Best Commentary or Analysis, Best Coverage of iTaukei Affairs, Best Sports Journalism, Scoop of the Year, and Young Journalist of the Year, among others. Category winners such as Radio Journalist of the Year and Print Journalist of the Year will be recognized, culminating in the prestigious title of Journalist of the Year.

Additionally, the 2025 FAME Awards will reintroduce the Fiji Media Hall of Fame, recognizing five media legends for their lifetime contributions to the industry.
