Fiji’s electronic transport system, known as e-Transport, is experiencing significant growth and acceptance across the nation, marking a pivotal transition toward a cashless public transport network. This progress was highlighted during the E-Ticketing Steering Committee meeting held on October 9, 2025, which included participation from the Fiji Bus Operators Association and various stakeholders. Reports from the meeting demonstrated record usage levels and improved service delivery, emphasizing the increasing digital participation of commuters.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Cooperatives, MSMEs, and Communications, Manoa Kamikamica, praised the achievements of the e-Transport system, expressing that it serves as a compelling example of how digital solutions can transform everyday experiences. He acknowledged the efforts of bus operators and partners to enhance reliability and passenger satisfaction, and announced the upcoming launch of a QR Pay feature set to debut on October 20, which will be available for both Android and iOS users to streamline the commuting process.
Currently, the e-Transport platform boasts more than 492,000 registered cards, with 320,000 active monthly users and around 128,000 people utilizing the system daily. The mobile application has been downloaded over 95,000 times, connecting 65,000 unique cards, indicating a strong public embrace of digital payment options.
The e-Ticketing initiative is becoming a cornerstone of Fiji’s digital economy, championing transparency, inclusivity, and modernization within public transportation. As the country moves forward, the introduction of new features and ongoing improvements are expected to further enhance convenience and accessibility for users.
The optimism surrounding these developments is notable, with stakeholders looking forward to the continued evolution of Fiji’s public transport infrastructure. By integrating technology-driven solutions into the everyday commuting experience, Fiji is setting a path toward a more efficient, accessible, and environmentally-friendly transport system for its citizens.
