The Fijian Government has reaffirmed its dedication to the One China Policy amidst recent diplomatic tensions arising from senior diplomat Filipo Tarakinikini’s visit to Taiwan. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade (MOFA) released a statement underscoring the significance of adhering to this policy while addressing the diplomatic situation.
In its statement, MOFA remarked, “The Government of Fiji through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade reaffirms its commitment to the One China Policy,” and indicated that it would take appropriate measures to manage the issue. Fiji stressed the foundation of its relationship with the People’s Republic of China, which is predicated on mutual respect, cooperation, and non-interference principles.
