Fiji’s Battle of the Netters 2025 Returns to Suva After a Decade-Long Hiatus

After nearly a decade-long hiatus, the much-anticipated Battle of the Netters 2025 has recommenced at the National Netball Centre in Laucala Bay, Suva. This significant event in Fiji’s netball scene unites netball associations from across the nation, embodying community spirit and sportsmanship. Over two days, 42 teams compete across four courts, breathing new life into the sport.

Associations such as Suva, Tailevu, Naitasiri South, Fiji Secondary Schools, Nadi, Lautoka, Tavua, Vatukaloko, Nanukuloa, Labasa, and Savusavu have gathered to present their top talents. The event spans five divisions, featuring under 15 women, under 18 women, open women, under 23 men, and open men, providing a platform to showcase skills at a national level.

The tournament’s revival is made possible through the generous sponsorship of Newworld IGA and Goodman Fielder, among others, allowing it to cover essential costs, including venue usage and team transportation to Suva. The event’s launch, held at the VIP Lounge of the Damodar City Aquatic Centre, highlighted the presence of sponsor representatives, emphasizing community backing. Additional support from SportsWorld Fiji, Hot Bread Kitchen, CJ Patel, ANZ Bank, and MaiTV underlines a collective effort to rejuvenate competitive netball in Fiji.

Competition lead Alumeci Sachs expressed sincere gratitude to the sponsors and the organising committee for their dedication. She also acknowledged the district heads for their crucial role in the event’s success. The tournament serves not only as a showcase for talent but also as a beacon of collaboration and unity, setting a positive course for the future of netball in Fiji. It is an encouraging step forward, promoting participation across all levels and heralding a vibrant future for the sport, with an inclusive and empowering force bringing communities together through a shared passion.
