Fijian Engineers Power UAE Aerospace Growth

Fiji’s aerospace talent takes off in the UAE

Fijian professionals are making significant strides in the aerospace industry within the United Arab Emirates (UAE), demonstrating the growing capabilities of Fiji’s workforce in advanced technological fields. This trend was underscored by President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu’s recent visit to United Design and Solutions Aerospace DWC-LLC (UUDS Aero) in Dubai. Accompanied by First Lady Emily Lalabalavu, the President highlighted the employment of over 30 Fijian staff members at UUDS Aero, showcasing their expertise in technical and engineering roles.

During the visit, President Lalabalavu praised the resilience, discipline, and teamwork of the Fijian workforce, noting their adeptness in mastering complex aeronautical and manufacturing tasks despite some not having formal technical qualifications. He expressed gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the support offered to Fijian workers in the UAE and recognized Fiji’s Ambassador to the UAE, Siddiq Koya, for his efforts to enhance bilateral relations and assist Fijians living abroad.

Manoj Bogoda, CEO of UUDS Aero, commended the exceptional skills and strong work ethic of Fijian employees, which have become essential to the company’s culture. He mentioned ongoing plans to expand partnerships with Fiji through employment opportunities and scholarship programs, aiming to bolster the development of Fiji’s technical workforce while enhancing labor cooperation between the two nations.

The spirit of collaboration is indicative of a broader relationship between Fiji and the UAE, further emphasized by the UAE’s recent announcement to establish an embassy in Suva. Such diplomatic efforts reflect a commitment to strengthening ties, creating investment opportunities, and supporting Fijian nationals across various sectors, particularly in aviation.

This engagement is a promising step towards allowing Fiji to establish itself as a key player in global markets. The skilled professionals from Fiji are well-equipped to fill gaps in high-demand industries such as aerospace. This collaboration ultimately serves as a constructive reminder of the importance of international partnerships in fostering economic growth and development, as both nations advance towards shared goals of sustainable progress and mutual prosperity.
