The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team faced a challenging beginning to their Singapore 7s campaign, suffering a 35–7 defeat against Australia in their first pool match.

Australia quickly took charge of the game, leveraging their speed and precise execution to establish a significant 21–7 lead by halftime. Star player Maddison Levi made a notable impact, scoring two tries in the opening minutes. Her teammates, Teagan Levi, Madison Ashby, Kaitlin Shave, and Faith Nathan, contributed additional tries, with Teagan Levi also successfully converting four tries to keep the scoreboard active.

Fiji managed to respond through Reapi Ulunisau, who scored a try in the ninth minute and converted it, which provided a glimmer of hope as they briefly narrowed the gap. However, despite showing resilience and physicality throughout the match, the Fijiana could not match Australia’s offensive momentum and failed to score again in the second half.

Looking ahead, the Fijiana team is eager to regroup and showcase stronger performances in their upcoming pool matches at the Singapore 7s, demonstrating their potential for improvement as the tournament progresses. With determination and teamwork, they aim to turn their fortunes around and make a significant impact in the remaining games.
