Three players from the Fijiana 15s team have officially joined the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s squad as they gear up for the upcoming HSBC SVNS Series. Captain Alfreda Fisher, Kolora Lomani, and Adi Salote Nailolo participated in a training session with the sevens team on Wednesday at the Uprising Sports Centre in Pacific Harbour.

These athletes were integral members of the Fijiana 15s team that competed in the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup. They are now aiming for a spot in the lineup for the next tournament, the Singapore 7s, scheduled for the end of this month.

Alfreda Fisher and Kolora Lomani are no strangers to the sevens format, both having significant experience in the fast-paced discipline. Lomani previously represented the Fijiana 7s at the 2024 Olympic Games in France, showcasing her talent on a global stage. Fisher was part of the national women’s 7s extended squad three years prior and has since served with the Republic of Fiji Navy.

Nailolo, who made her major breakthrough last year, was among three debutants for the Fijiana 15s during the World Cup, transitioning from the women’s 15s pathway to this exciting opportunity.

In the Singapore 7s, the Fijiana team will face tough competition as they are placed in Pool A alongside Australia, Japan, and the USA. The tournament will run from January 31 to February 2.

Additionally, both the Fiji men’s and women’s teams are set to compete in the Coral Coast 7s tournament in Sigatoka next week, promising more thrilling rugby action. This development reflects the growing prominence of rugby in Fiji and the commitment to elevate the profile of women’s rugby on both domestic and international platforms.
