Fijian Drua Bring First-Ever Super Rugby Match to Ba at Four R Stadium

Swire Shipping Fijian Drua fans will have plenty to celebrate in the upcoming 2026 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season, which marks the competition’s 30th anniversary. Notably, the town of Ba will host its first-ever Super Rugby match when the Drua take on the ACT Brumbies on March 14, 2026, at the newly redeveloped Four R Stadium. This milestone is a significant development for the Drua, enhancing their presence across Fiji rugby and offering local fans an opportunity to witness high-caliber matches in their own community.

The revitalization of Four R Stadium, formerly Govind Park, introduces the largest grandstand in Fiji, accommodating over 9,000 spectators alongside upgraded facilities. This development follows the stadium’s nine-year closure after sustaining damage from Severe Tropical Cyclone Winston in 2016, and its reopening in July 2025 is very much anticipated by fans.

Shane Hussein, the Drua’s General Manager Commercial, shared his excitement about bringing a Super Rugby match to Ba, emphasizing the importance of providing affordable seating and enhancing community engagement. “It’s fantastic for us to be able to take a Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific match to the fans and vanua of Ba,” he remarked.

The 2026 season promises to be a thrilling experience, featuring 11 teams while introducing a refined finals format. The Drua will kick off their campaign with a game against Moana Pasifika on February 14, 2026, at Churchill Park in Lautoka. The following matches will include established rivals such as the Hurricanes, Queensland Reds, and Highlanders, with the Highlanders returning to Fiji after a four-year absence, rekindling the excitement from their dramatic clash with the Drua in 2022.

The Drua’s schedule includes a total of five confirmed home games in various locations throughout Fiji—Ba, Lautoka, and Suva—with two additional venues yet to be finalized. This expanded approach to venue selection reflects the team’s strategy to bring top-tier rugby closer to more communities, further promoting the sport throughout the islands.

Moreover, the introduction of a new finals format, which allows for a ‘lucky loser’ from Qualifying Finals to progress as a fourth seed, adds an exciting twist to the championship race. Super Rugby Pacific’s push to enhance its layout signals an ongoing commitment to engage fans and elevate the competition’s intensity.

As the 2026 season approaches, the combination of high-stakes matches, community involvement, and the revitalization of rugby in Fiji creates an optimistic atmosphere for fans and players alike. The Drua’s efforts to broaden their reach and the return of thrilling rivalries are set to make this season a memorable journey in Fijian rugby history.
