The official launch of the 2026 Classic Buses Limited FANCA Nations World Cup has taken place, marking a significant event on the Islamic community calendar. With expectations of over 1,000 participants from five different nations, this tournament promises a week-long celebration focused on sport, culture, and community spirit.

Scheduled for August 23rd to 30th, the matches will be held at King Charles Park in Nadi and the Nadi Muslim College Events and Sports Centre. The tournament will feature competitions in soccer, netball, and volleyball, offering events for both men and women across various age groups, including Legends, Masters, Veterans, and youth divisions. Soccer matches will take place at King Charles Park, while netball and volleyball games will be hosted at the Nadi Muslim College.

Javed Ahmed, President of the Fiji Muslim Sports Association, highlighted that this tournament is more than just a sporting event; it is an opportunity for the Fijian diaspora to reconnect with friends, family, and community members. He noted, “The Nations World Cup is a unique opportunity for all our brothers, all our sisters who have migrated overseas — to Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and America — for a better life. It gives them a chance to come back and reconnect with their families and friends here in Fiji.”

In addition to the sporting competitions, the event aims to make a meaningful community impact through charitable initiatives. Ahmed reiterated the commitment to create a lasting legacy beyond the games. A partnership with the Haya Group will focus on promoting unity and positive community engagement through initiatives such as the Dawa and Outreach Initiative. Furthermore, a portion of the gate revenues will support charitable projects, reinforcing the tradition of giving back, which is a core principle of the FANCA Nations World Cup.

Designed to be family-friendly, the tournament will also include festive activities for children, ensuring that the event offers a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere for everyone. The 2026 FANCA Nations World Cup is set to be the largest of its kind, blending competitive athletics with cultural celebrations and fostering community unity, promising a memorable experience for all who attend.
