A heavy rain alert has been declared for the entire Fiji Group as a continuous trough of low pressure brings overcast conditions, with rainfall expected to last throughout the week. The Fiji Meteorological Service has issued warnings of occasional rain that may reach heavy levels at times, alongside the possibility of isolated thunderstorms, particularly through midnight tonight.

The most affected areas are anticipated to be the northern and interior regions of Vanua Levu, including Bua, Lekutu, Dreketi, Seaqaqa, Labasa, Namuka, and Udu Point. Similarly, significant rainfall is expected across the interior, western, and northern sections of Viti Levu, especially in regions from Momi to Nadi, Lautoka, Ba, and Ra, as well as in the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups.

Across other parts of the islands, sporadic rain along with thunderstorms is forecasted, with heavier downpours likely in the afternoons and evenings. Residents should be vigilant, as the ongoing heavy rainfall could lead to flash flooding, particularly in low-lying areas.

As the week progresses, Monday’s outlook suggests that the rain will persist in most regions, maintaining the risk of flash flooding in susceptible areas. Authorities urge the public to remain informed and take necessary safety precautions as the weather conditions evolve.
