The Fiji Police Force has launched an investigation following an incident in Vusasivo Village, Cakaudrove, where several suspects are believed to have attacked government officials. According to police reports, the altercation began when the driver of a government vehicle attempted to avoid colliding with an intoxicated man who stumbled onto the road. The driver swerved, causing the vehicle to veer off course.
In the aftermath, a group of intoxicated youths allegedly approached the vehicle, assaulted the driver and passengers, and stole personal belongings. Six victims were transported to Tukavesi Hospital for medical attention, with two later transferred to Labasa Hospital for further treatment. As of now, one victim is in stable condition while the other has been discharged.
The police have taken statements from the victims and are actively working to identify and apprehend the suspects involved in the assault, emphasizing that the investigation is ongoing.
