Former Flying Fijians fly-half Ben Volavola is preparing to join the Queensland Reds for the upcoming rugby season, having signed a one-year contract with the Australian club. The Reds announced the signing, underlining Volavola’s versatility as he can play not only as a fly-half but also as an inside centre or fullback, which will enhance the team’s depth and experience in the backline.

At 34, Volavola brings significant experience to the Reds, having played ten matches for the Leicester Tigers last season in England. There, he reignited his ambitions under the mentorship of former Waratahs coach Michael Cheika. His career highlights include representing Fiji in the 2015 and 2019 Rugby World Cups, where he displayed his skills on the global stage.

Expressing his excitement about joining the Reds, Volavola highlighted his belief in the squad’s potential to chase championship titles. The Australian-born playmaker began his rugby journey in Sydney, making his professional debut with the Waratahs in 2013. Over the years, he has established a notable career across various clubs in New Zealand, France, and England, and has earned 38 Test caps for Fiji.
