A flash flood warning has been issued for all of Fiji, according to the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi. The latest bulletin released at 8 am indicates that an active trough of low pressure is generating extensive cloud cover and significant rainfall across the Fiji Group, which is increasing the potential for flash flooding.

Heavier rainfall is expected in isolated areas, especially those that are low-lying and historically prone to flooding. This poses serious risks, including the flooding of drainage systems, small streams, and low water bridges, in addition to the inundation of roads and properties within vulnerable zones.

In terms of tidal activity, Lautoka recorded a high tide of 1.55 meters at 3:44 PM and a low tide of 0.70 meters at 9:23 AM. Meanwhile, Suva is anticipating a high tide of 1.51 meters at 4:28 PM, following a low tide of 0.60 meters at 10:07 AM.

Authorities are urging all residents to remain alert given the forecasts of heavy rainfall. The public is advised to avoid traveling on flooded roads and crossings, and to take necessary precautions during this adverse weather. Those living in at-risk low-lying areas should stay informed about local developments and prepare to move to higher ground if required, prioritizing safety during this risky weather event. This proactive approach can mitigate the impacts of potential flooding and ensure community safety.
