The Fiji Sports Council U20 team kicked off their tournament in impressive fashion, defeating Deveta Brothers 15-0 at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. Senior player Lodoviko Tuva expressed the team’s gratitude for starting the tournament with a strong win, highlighting their successful execution of the pre-game strategy.

“We thank the Lord for the victory; this was what we had talked about before the game, and we’re happy to have executed our game plan well to get this important win,” Tuva stated.

Looking ahead, Tuva acknowledged areas for improvement, particularly regarding support play and defensive structures at crucial points on the field. “Support play was not on point in that game, and we need to work on that, as well as our communication to strengthen our defensive lines,” he noted.

Tuva emphasized the team’s motivation to succeed not only for themselves but also to honor their sponsors who have provided them with the opportunity to display their talents. “This has been our plan to try and win this tournament as a way to show our appreciation to our sponsors, Fiji Sports Council,” he said.

With the festive season approaching, Tuva remarked that winning the tournament would enable them to share the prize money and support their families during Christmas. The FSC U20 team is under the guidance of former national representative Isireli Bobo, and they are determined to make a lasting impact in the competition.
