The Tertiary Scholarship and Loans Service (TSLS) recently held its first pre-departure orientation specifically for High Achievers pursuing Level 7 higher education in the Central Division. The purpose of this orientation is to prepare scholarship recipients with crucial information and resources needed before commencing their studies abroad.
During the session, officials from TSLS provided detailed insights on the academic duties, reporting requirements, and compliance standards associated with the scholarship program. Students received guidance on their preparation for departure and a clear idea of what to expect while studying overseas. Importantly, the officers reassured students about the support systems available to them, highlighting that TSLS remains accessible to assist them throughout their educational journeys.
The event included an interactive forum where both students and their parents were encouraged to raise concerns and seek clarification regarding the transition to overseas education. Afterward, each scholarship recipient participated in discussions with a joint panel made up of TSLS staff and representatives from the Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation. These conversations were aimed at addressing individual situations and identifying various support mechanisms to ensure a smoother transition to studying abroad.
TSLS has announced plans to hold similar orientation sessions in the Western and Northern divisions in the upcoming weeks. As of now, 36 students have been offered scholarships for overseas education, with ongoing evaluations for additional applicants. Additionally, TSLS has reminded potential candidates that the submission deadline for all scholarship applications is Saturday.
This initiative by TSLS reflects its dedication to promoting academic excellence and ensuring that students feel supported as they take this significant step in their educational journey. Such proactive measures are essential for students to transition successfully into their overseas studies, paving the way for brighter futures.
