The International Organization for Migration (IOM) held a successful three-day “Kida B4 U Click” Training of Trainers Workshop at the Lagoon Resort in Deuba, Fiji. Concluding on September 19, 2025, the program aimed to equip both law enforcement officers and community representatives with essential tools to combat cybercrime and human trafficking, addressing two significant global challenges.
The IOM Project Coordinator, Ms. Sera Raisulu, praised the dedication of the workshop participants, urging them to continue embracing professional development and shared learning experiences. The initiative was in partnership with the Fiji Police Force, reflecting a collaborative approach in tackling these issues.
On the final day, participants actively engaged with local communities, visiting Ratu Latinara College and Korovisilou Village to promote online safety and raise awareness about the risks of trafficking. Such efforts are vital as they extend the impact of the workshop beyond theoretical training into practical community engagement.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Salanieta Radaniva expressed gratitude to the IOM for organizing the workshop and acknowledged the contributions from Homes of Hope and police participants. She emphasized the importance of addressing evolving, human-induced security challenges and encouraged attendees to utilize their new knowledge to create positive impacts in their communities.
This initiative aligns with broader regional efforts, such as those seen in the Cyber Safety Pasifika program and other regional collaborations, which aim to strengthen the capacity of Pacific law enforcement agencies against cybercrime. These programs emphasize the necessity for increased digital literacy, awareness, and community-oriented policing strategies to effectively combat these modern threats.
Incorporating elements from past initiatives, the “Kida B4 U Click” program reflects a proactive and hopeful stride toward creating safer online environments and heightening awareness of trafficking dangers. By equipping local law enforcement and community leaders with the necessary skills and insights, these efforts contribute significantly to building a more secure Pacific region.
Through such collaborative endeavors, there is a positive outlook for improved community safety and protection against cybercrime and human trafficking, showcasing a unified commitment across regions to foster safer and more resilient communities.
