Fiji Tourism Stabilizes as September Arrivals Dip From August

Fiji Tourism Rebounds as September Arrivals Stay Above Pre-Pandemic Levels

Fiji experienced a total of 92,344 visitors in September 2025, according to the Fiji Bureau of Statistics. This represents a 7.4 percent decline from August 2025, which recorded 99,737 tourists.

In terms of visitor arrivals, the figures indicate that most tourists, numbering 90,930, traveled by air, while 1,414 arrived by sea. The latter included 1,156 crew members from fishing vessels and 258 yacht visitors. A significant majority of these travelers, accounting for 82.1 percent, came for holiday purposes, while others traveled to visit friends and relatives (6.3 percent), on business (2.3 percent), or for other reasons (9.3 percent).

Australia continued to be Fiji’s largest source of tourists, contributing 44,187 visitors, which is 47.9 percent of the total arrivals. New Zealand followed with 22,821 visitors, making up 24.7 percent, while the United States sent 8,906 tourists, comprising 9.6 percent of the total. Other notable sources included Continental Europe with 2,767 visitors, China with 2,650, Canada with 1,515, and the United Kingdom with 935.

Despite the drop in September’s visitor numbers, the overall trend highlights a stabilizing recovery in Fiji’s tourism sector, with arrivals still exceeding pre-pandemic figures. This consistent growth reflects successful recovery initiatives within the Fijian tourism industry, providing a foundation for ongoing economic recovery and reaffirming Fiji’s status as a desirable holiday destination. The resilience shown in visitor numbers fosters optimism for future tourism growth and economic resilience in the islands.
