Fiji is set to host the 37th Miss Pacific Islands Pageant from February 13 to 20, 2026, marking its return to this prestigious event after a seven-year hiatus. Minister for Local Government Maciu Nalumisa made the announcement, revealing that the pageant will take place in Nadi, with over ten Pacific island nations expected to participate, including American Samoa, New Zealand, Kiribati, and more.
Nalumisa emphasized Fiji’s preparations to deliver a grand showcase, highlighting the economic and cultural benefits of hosting such an event. “I am honoured to announce that Fiji will host the 37th Miss Pacific Island Pageants. After several years, we are bringing this exciting event back to Nadi, the original hub for tourists,” he stated.
Ana Tuiketei, Chair of the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant Board, noted that hosting this pageant not only stimulates significant economic activity but also provides a platform for young women to advocate for their countries and address common challenges faced by Pacific Islanders. She expressed hope that this prestigious event will focus on showcasing talent, culture, and the heritage of the region while encouraging participants to promote pressing social issues.
The Miss Pacific Islands Pageant aims to celebrate the diversity of the Pacific Islands and empower young women as they advocate for their nations and the shared interests of the Pacific community. This event holds the promise of fostering unity and collaboration among the Pacific nations, enhancing their visibility on the international stage.
The forthcoming pageant will not only serve as a competitive event but will also enrich the cultural tapestry of the region and garner global attention for Fiji and its neighboring islands. It stands to be a hopeful beacon of empowerment for young women in the Pacific, providing them with opportunities to inspire change and celebrate their identities.
