Two Chinese nationals, Xu Qian and Wang An, have been apprehended in Fiji after being found with 805.657 grams of methamphetamine. The drugs were reportedly concealed in 20 zip lock bags within an Airbnb located in Martintar, Nadi. Xu and Wang had entered Fiji on tourist visas, and their case was brought before the Nadi Magistrate’s Court. Given their lack of English proficiency, their attorney, Rajshneel Chand, has requested a Chinese translator for the court proceedings, a request acknowledged by Magistrate Semi Babitu. The prosecution plans to elevate the case to the High Court, describing it as a Category 4 offense, which carries a potential prison sentence of 15 to 20 years. The case is now set for a hearing on September 29, with Xu and Wang remaining in police custody until then.
