This crucial win not only secured Fiji the top spot in Pool A but also set them up for their semifinal match scheduled for 4:57 PM tomorrow.
Fiji demonstrated impressive resilience throughout the tournament, coming back from behind in all three of their matches in Perth. This success follows a thrilling victory just a week earlier in Singapore, where they triumphed with a golden point.
In the intense match against South Africa, debutant Nacani Boginisoko made a remarkable impression with his dynamic line breaks, while Vuiviawa Naduvalo played a critical role by scoring two tries. South Africa’s Zane Davids initially opened the scoring early in the game. However, Fiji faced a setback when Douglas Daveta missed a chance to capitalize on another Boginisoko break.
