Fiji Airways Fiji men’s sevens head coach Osea Kolinisau expressed strong confidence in his squad’s readiness for the upcoming Singapore Sevens, highlighting the rigorous physical preparation they have undertaken over the Christmas and New Year period. Kolinisau detailed the demanding training sessions leading up to the Coral Coast Sevens and during the final week before their departure as key factors in their conditioning.
He stated, “I’m satisfied with the team’s fitness. I know the work we put in, especially in the lead-up to Coral Coast. We had a tough two weeks, one week before Coral Coast and then the week before we left.” This preparation, he believes, has positioned the team well to effectively implement their game plan in Singapore.
The former Olympic gold medalist emphasized that the players have demonstrated the physical resilience needed to compete at this elite level. “I trust and believe the boys are ready and they’re going to go there and do the job that we intend to do,” Kolinisau added confidently.
As for their schedule, the men’s team is set to begin their pursuit of success at the tournament against Great Britain at 4:32 PM on Saturday, followed by matches against Spain at 7:58 PM and South Africa at 11:46 PM. Fans can catch all the action live on FBC TV.
With the squad feeling physically prepared and mentally focused, there is optimism surrounding their performance in Singapore, and the Fijian rugby community eagerly anticipates their journey in this stage of the World Rugby Sevens Series.
