The Fiji Airways Men’s 7s team has kicked off its Perth 7s campaign with an impressive comeback, securing a 26-10 victory against Argentina. Known as the “comeback kings,” Fiji showcased resilience by scoring four unanswered tries after initially trailing 10-0.
Argentina took advantage of two early errors from Fiji, quickly scoring two tries within the opening three minutes. However, Fiji demonstrated patience and determination, with Terio Tamani breaking the deadlock by scoring their first try, which was successfully converted. Tamani then displayed exceptional skill, weaving through the Argentine defense to score his second try just minutes later, putting Fiji ahead 14-10 at halftime.
Throughout the match, Tamani served as a calm playmaker, effectively controlling the pace of the game. A potential try by Sevuloni Mocenacagi was ruled out by the Television Match Official (TMO) due to a forward pass, but soon after, George Bose added another try for Fiji. The game concluded with super substitute Manueli Maisamoa putting the final touch on the victory with a powerful run to score their fourth try, following impressive support play from his teammates.
Fiji’s next challenge will be against Spain at 7:36 PM, followed by a final pool match against South Africa at 10:52 PM. Meanwhile, the Fijiana team will face New Zealand at 5:58 PM and Japan at 8:52 PM. Fans can catch all of Fiji’s games live on FBC TV, promising an exciting day of rugby ahead.
