The Fiji Airways men’s 7s team is set to announce its final squad for the Singapore 7s tournament a week after the McDonald’s Coral Coast Fiji 7s. Head coach Osea Kolinisau shared this information with the media after a training session held at Albert Park in Suva on Tuesday.
As the team prepares for the upcoming tournament, Kolinisau mentioned that a select group will participate in the Singapore 7s while others will represent the McDonald’s Mike Friday Select 7s squad. Players who do not make the final cut won’t be left idle; they will continue to work on their fitness to ensure they remain competitive.
Kolinisau emphasized the importance of providing game exposure for new players within the national squad. He stated, “The boys that are not playing will still do fitness,” highlighting his commitment to the overall development of the entire team. This opportunity to compete at the Coral Coast is crucial for the grassroots players, enabling them to gain valuable experience against strong international teams present at the tournament.
The squad has resumed intense training after the Christmas and New Year break, refocusing on their fitness and tactical skills following the first two legs of the series in Dubai and Cape Town. This preparation reflects the team’s determination to build a robust mix of seasoned players and fresh talent as they gear up for the challenges ahead.
