Fiji’s government is planning significant reforms to enhance accountability among service providers in cross-border criminal investigations and to facilitate the removal of illegal internet content. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Communications Manoa Kamikamica announced these intentions during a parliamentary session, emphasizing that the review of the Telecommunications Act 2008 is critical for aligning Fiji’s legal framework with emerging technologies and addressing existing loopholes in the digital landscape.
The proposed reforms extend beyond the Telecommunications Act, encompassing the Online Safety Act, Cybercrime Act, and new privacy regulations.
