The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC) is encouraging citizens to participate in upcoming public consultations on the proposed changes to the electricity tariff rate structure. These consultations are set to take place from January 6 to January 15, 2024.

The sessions aim to gather diverse opinions regarding the proposed tariff adjustments by Energy Fiji Limited (EFL). FCCC invites participation from a wide range of stakeholders, including household consumers, community groups, businesses, industries, government agencies, political parties, social organizations, and youth representatives.

In addition to in-person meetings, the public is encouraged to submit their views through written submissions or via an online survey offered by FCCC during the consultation period. To aid consumers in understanding the implications of the proposed changes, the FCCC has made a non-confidential version of EFL’s tariff proposal available on its website. They have also introduced an Electricity Bill Comparison Calculator, which enables consumers to assess how the new rate structure may impact their electricity bills.

FCCC emphasizes the importance of these consultations and will provide updates on any venue confirmations and schedule changes through its official communication channels. The Commission urges all Fijians to seize this chance to voice their opinions and contribute to the discussion surrounding electricity pricing, reflecting an inclusive approach to consumer engagement in critical matters affecting the community.
