Fiji Rugby Union Chairman John Sanday has announced an exciting initiative aimed at transforming the Skipper Select into a distinct brand, signifying a new era for Fiji’s rugby pathways. The Skipper Select team, composed of the top talents from each province in the Skipper Cup, is set to play a vital role in connecting provincial rugby with professional club play and national representation.
Sanday acknowledges the reality that not every player will make it to the elite levels, such as the Drua or the Flying Fijians. However, he underscored the union’s dedication to providing players with opportunities to secure professional contracts abroad. He stated, “It’s our duty to ensure that we provide the platform for our boys and girls to come through and have an opportunity to go out into the world and find their fortune or their future.”
