The Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) is nearing the conclusion of its search for a new chief executive officer, with interviews for five shortlisted candidates having recently taken place. FRU Board chairman John Sanday confirmed that an announcement regarding the new leader is imminent, as local HR firm Maxumise finalizes the scoring and reference checks.
The recruitment process garnered interest from 12 candidates following a public advertisement that was published in November. The shortlist includes three local individuals and two from overseas, with Koli Sewabu, the current acting CEO, among those under consideration for the position.
Sanday highlighted that the appointed CEO will be required to implement a 100-day performance management plan upon taking office. Additionally, the FRU plans to appoint a new chief financial officer and an acting chief operating officer in the wake of this appointment. This restructuring aims to enhance the FRU’s framework, aligning it with tier one standards and the evolving demands of modern rugby.
Through these strategic changes, the FRU is demonstrating a commitment to strengthening its leadership and administrative capabilities, setting the stage for enhanced competitiveness and future growth in Fijian rugby. This proactive approach not only aims to improve organizational effectiveness but also to elevate the standing of Fiji rugby on the international stage.
