The Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) is in the final stages of selecting a new chief executive, having recently conducted interviews for the five shortlisted candidates. FRU Board chairman John Sanday announced that the decision would be revealed soon, as local HR firm Maxumise is finalizing the scoring and reference checks.
A total of 12 candidates applied for the role after a public advertisement was released in November. Among the finalists, three are local candidates while two are from abroad. Notably, acting CEO Koli Sewabu is one of those vying for the position.
Sanday emphasized that the successful candidate will be required to sign off on an initial 100-day performance management plan. Following the appointment of the new CEO, the FRU will also confirm its new chief financial officer and acting chief operating officer. This process is part of a significant restructuring effort aimed at aligning the FRU’s framework with tier one standards and the demands of modern rugby.
This movement towards enhancing the leadership within the FRU reflects a proactive stance to bolster the organization’s framework and improve its competitiveness, positioning Fiji rugby for future growth and success.
