Nancy Naivaluwaqa, the dynamic manager of Coral View Resort on Taweva Island in Yasawa, exemplifies dedication and passion within Fiji’s hospitality sector, boasting over three decades of experience. With her friendly ‘bula’ greeting, Nancy ensures a welcoming atmosphere at the 3-star resort, renowned for its natural allure and heartfelt hospitality, making it a perfect tropical retreat.
Originally from Waivou Village in Rewa, Nancy began her hospitality career at the esteemed Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva. She later transitioned to Wakaya Island Resort, immersing herself in island resort life for 15 years, catering to diverse guests, including billionaires and celebrities. These experiences honed her skills in reservations, sales, and marketing, ultimately leading her to manage a resort in Malolo before taking the helm at Coral View Resort eight years ago.
Nancy manages a dedicated team of over 23 staff members, striving to ensure every visitor enjoys their stay in Fiji. Although surrounded by picturesque beauty, she acknowledges the personal challenges of island life, such as homesickness and adapting to varied guest expectations. Her advice to budding hospitality professionals is straightforward: “Be yourself, keep smiling, and embody the hospitality you naturally possess. Always put God first.”
Nancy’s journey is reminiscent of other inspiring women in Fiji’s hospitality industry. Celebrated during International Women’s Day, women like Irinieta Naqolo and Titilia Delaivuna Naqila have advanced through determination, resilience, and community support. Their stories highlight a broader movement where passion, mentorship, and empowerment shape Fiji’s tourism sector.
As Nancy Naivaluwaqa continues her impactful role on Taweva Island, her story not only signifies personal success but also serves as a beacon of hope for future women leaders in hospitality. Her journey reflects how genuine warmth and dedication can enhance the industry and the communities it impacts.
