Nasinu and Labasa have claimed victory in the under-14 categories of the 2025 Fiji Primary Schools Inter District Championship (IDC), held on Friday at Prince Charles Park in Nadi. In the boys’ U14 division, Nasinu secured the championship by narrowly defeating Rewa with a 1-0 scoreline. Despite Rewa’s credentials as favorites—having remained undefeated in the group stages—they were unable to turn opportunities into goals. Nasinu, however, executed a well-structured defensive strategy complemented by effective counterattacks, which ultimately led them to triumph.
Leading up to the final, Rewa advanced to the championship match with a hard-fought 1-0 win against Seaqaqa, while Nasinu also progressed by defeating Ba by the same margin. The final showcased Nasinu’s tactical discipline and resilience in high-stakes moments.
In the girls’ U14 division, Labasa emerged victorious, defeating Ba with a thrilling 2-1 finish. The match saw both teams level at 1-1 by the end of regular time, but Labasa sealed their victory with a winning goal in the final moments of extra time, igniting celebrations among their supporters.
The outcomes of this year’s championships underscore the wealth of talent present in Fiji’s youth football landscape, signaling a promising future for these young athletes as they continue to develop and exhibit their skills on larger stages. The dedication and performances displayed by both Nasinu and Labasa highlight the importance of grassroots football in fostering sporting excellence in the region.
