Two former officers from the Counter Narcotics Bureau are set to appear in the Suva Magistrates Court, charged with abuse of office. The charges were initiated by the Major Crime Unit, following consultations with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. Each officer faces a single charge of abuse of office.
It is alleged that from January 2023 to December 2024, one of the accused engaged in unauthorized financial activities, resulting in gains exceeding $22,000. Additionally, this 47-year-old officer allegedly received corrupt benefits connected to the financial dealings. Furthermore, in July 2024, the officer is accused of leaking official investigation documents to an unauthorized party, compromising the integrity of the Fiji Police Force.
Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu has ordered the interdiction of the officers involved in this case, symbolizing a commitment to accountability and ethical policing.
