Five individuals have been arrested in Kadavu following a successful police operation that intercepted a fibreglass boat carrying large bags of dried leaves, believed to be marijuana. Acting on a tip-off, the police managed to seize these suspected illegal substances, with the men and the seized items now in custody as investigations proceed.
In his statement, Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Kasiano Vusonilawe underscored the pivotal role of community cooperation in enhancing successful policing efforts. He encouraged the public to persist in their support against drug trafficking, urging them to report any pertinent information via Crimestoppers or directly to police officials. Vusonilawe emphasized a focus on combating both marijuana (green) and methamphetamine (white) drugs.
In a separate incident, two individuals have been charged with unlawful methamphetamine possession and subsequently appeared in court. One was apprehended at a roadblock, while the other was detained separately on the same day, further highlighting the prevalence of drug-related issues in the region.
