Fiji Police Force Unveils 2025–2029 Strategy to Modernize and Strengthen Community Ties

Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police, Aporosa Lutunaugua, recently extended gratitude to the public in Fiji’s Western Division for their instrumental role in formulating the Fiji Police Force’s Annual Corporate Plan and Strategic Plan for 2025–2029. During his remarks, delivered on behalf of Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu, Lutunaugua highlighted the community’s dedication during the final phase of consultations, describing their involvement as a selfless effort to enhance policing in Fiji.

Lutunaugua stressed that partnerships are crucial for developing a modern and effective police service, echoing themes from past engagements by the Fiji Police Force. The involvement of community members plays a significant part in understanding local needs and integrating them into broader policing strategies. These collaborative efforts underpin the force’s initiatives to tackle challenges across diverse regions, especially in rural and remote areas where resources may be limited.

In parallel efforts, Commissioner Tudravu has focused on enhancing morale among officers, emphasizing professional development and teamwork as essential components for effective police operations. Initiatives have been set to boost response capacities in remote locations and promote internal reforms aimed at officer welfare and the modernization of police methods.

The unveiling of the Fiji Police Force’s Strategic and Corporate Plans marks the commitment to address evolving security concerns by integrating innovative technologies, improving resource allocation, and strengthening community ties. With significant increases in crime rates reported earlier this year, the emphasis on modernization and engagement is crucial.

Through these strategic plans, the Fiji Police Force aims to foster a more cohesive and responsive service, ensuring safer communities while rebuilding public trust. Ongoing collaboration with international partners is expected to bolster these efforts, providing advanced resources and training to meet current and future challenges in Fiji’s law enforcement landscape.
