Fiji is poised to enhance its immigration system following the comprehensive findings from a recent review of its immigration laws. Acting Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Siromi Turaga, expressed the significance of this review, stating, “Today we reach the end point of an undertaking forged through teamwork, dialogue, and a collective resolve to craft a modern, equitable, and secure immigration system for Fiji.” He further noted that the review’s recommendations will guide the government in establishing a secure, efficient, and fair immigration framework that genuinely serves the people of Fiji.
The review, a collaborative effort involving the International Organization for Migration, the Ministry of Immigration, and the Fiji Law Reform Commission, aims to modernize Fiji’s immigration practices to meet both national priorities and international standards.
