Fiji’s Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has called upon the nation’s citizens to embrace peace, compassion, and unity during this Christmas season. Emphasizing the importance of maintaining Fiji’s legacy as a model of harmony amidst its diverse cultures, faiths, and traditions, Mr. Rabuka urged Fijians to continue being a voice of cooperation both in the Pacific region and on a global scale.

In his heartfelt Christmas message, the Prime Minister encouraged families and communities to support one another, particularly those in need. He highlighted the significance of empathy and kindness, stating, “If a family member, neighbour or friend is in need, reach out and offer your support. Let us restore and strengthen the loving and caring spirit for which our people have long been known.”

Reflecting on the backdrop of current global tensions, Mr. Rabuka asserted that Fiji must remain steadfast in its commitment to dialogue, respect, and goodwill. He expressed hope for the coming year, believing that with unity, hard work, faith, and resilience, Fiji can build a stronger economy and create meaningful opportunities for its youth, ensuring that progress is inclusive.

Echoing the themes of peacemaking and righteousness from the Sermon on the Mount, he stated, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God… Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.”

As he concluded his message, the Prime Minister extended warm festive greetings to families both within Fiji and abroad, wishing everyone a “blessed and joyful Christmas” along with a “peaceful, healthy and prosperous New Year.” His sentiments reflect a commitment to fostering a united and caring community, which is especially vital as Fiji looks forward to new opportunities in the year ahead.
